Regarding KSSCA:
The Parent Organization Karnataka State Seed Certification Agency (KSSCA) was established as an autonomous body under Govt. of Karnataka as per the provisions of Section-8 of the Seeds Act 1966 in the year 1974. It was registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 with the main objective of Certification of Seeds of Crop Varieties & Hybrids notified under Section-5 of the Seeds Act, 1966. The Agency has been performing its assigned task of making available high quality seeds of notified varieties and hybrids to the farming community, so grown and distributed as to ensure their genetic identity and purity.

Establishment of KSOCA:
As per the guidelines of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industries,GOI, New Delhi, KSOCA has been carved from the parent Organization, KSSOCA as a separate Organic Certification Division. Vide G.O.No. AGD 50 AAE 2013 Bengaluru dt 04.01.2013, Posts in different cadres have been created as per the requirement and Officers & Staff working in KSSOCA have been deployed and trained in various Organic Inspection & Certification aspects as per National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) and National Organic Production (NOP) Standards.



As per procedure, KSOCA has applied for obtaining accreditation from APEDA and till such time the accreditation is received working partnership has been made by signing a MOU with Uttarkhand State Organic Certification Agency (USOCA) for joint inspection and certification of organic farms/Units. Therefore, the procedure for registration may be downloaded from the website: www.usoca.org.Recently KSOCA has obtained accreditation from NAB (National Accreditation Body) with effect from 17-08-2015 to carryout organic certification activities.



The Main Objectives of KSOCA :

  • To provide reliable, prompt and efficient Organic Certification services at reasonable cost to Organic Farmers and Other Stakeholders involved in Organic Production & Marketing.
  • To guarantee genuinity of Organic Produce to the consumers through a well defined certification system as per NPOP/NOP Standards.
